Real Betis

Real Betis is a professional football (soccer) club based in Seville, Spain. Founded in 1907, the club’s full name is Real Betis Balompié. It competes in La Liga, the top tier of Spanish football. The team’s colors are green and white, reflected in their home kit. Real Betis has a strong local following and plays its home matches at the Estadio Benito Villamarín. The club has a storied history, including winning the Copa del Rey multiple times and having a passionate fan base known as “béticos.” Real Betis represents the working-class roots of Seville and has a rivalry with fellow local club Sevilla FC, with whom they contest the Seville derby. The name “Betis” is derived from the ancient Roman name for the Guadalquivir River, which flows through Seville.
