La Liga

La Liga is the top professional football (soccer) division in Spain. Officially known as the Primera División, it is contested by 20 teams and is one of the most popular and competitive leagues in the world. Founded in 1929, La Liga has a rich history and has produced many of the sport’s greatest players and clubs, including FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Segunda División, the second tier of Spanish football. Each season, teams compete for the championship title, and the top teams also qualify for European competitions like the UEFA Champions League. La Liga is known for its technical style of play and has a significant following both domestically and internationally.
